Reservation Rayta in U.P.-The Rayta may spread more once the matter goes to Supreme Court.Let,s pray that country is not engulfed in another Mandal-Kamandal fight.By our enlightened reader R.N.Malik.
UP government was to recruit 138000 teachers. 69000 teachers were employed in the first stage around 2018 or so. Posts for another 69000 teachers were advertised in 2019 and 4.25 lac boys applied. Exams were held and 69000 teachers were employed. It was observed that only 16 percent were recruited through SC , STquota against a provision of 20 percent in the SC ST categories and only 3.6 percent candidates were recruited from the OBC category against their quota of 27 percent. This caused an uproar. There were demonstrations and lathicharge. Some went to High Court. Now Allahbad High Court has upheld the claims of left out candidates and directed the State to reframe the recruitment list within 3 months
In our times, the reservation policy was based on representation of the category. For example, there were 100 posts. ScSt candidates will get 20 posts. Suppose ten applicants came came through open merit. Then only 1o candidates would be recruited from the Dalit quota according to the old quota rule. UP government made recruitment according to that rule. But the rejected candidates asked the Court that number of Dalit or OBC candidates recruited through open merit, that number should not be deducted from their quota. Suppose ten Dalit candidates were recruited through open merit, then 20 more Dalit candidates should be recruited through the quota rule and then total number of recruited Dalit candidates will become 30 percent. So this is the root of the problem.
Now there is a political outcry against the Chief Minister and his party dubbing them as anti-Dalits and anti-OBC. So the government cannot dare to go to the Supreme Court. But those who will lose their jobs will definitely go to Supreme Court and try to get stay order.
My hanch is that the nation may not be engulfed into another Mandal and Kamandal fight. But politicians of this country will never sit together to rationalise the reservation policy particularly in case of educational institutions.
