Obituary-Ram Varma ,former Chief Secretary,Haryana and renowned author.He passed away at his Panchkula residence at age of 84.Good administrator,human and author .

During my journalistic stint I didn’t have the opportunity of meeting him.I met him about four years back in Haryana Institute of Public Administration,Gurugram where institute has organised a program called Book reading session in which he had talked about his book “My Encounters with Three Lals of Haryana “.He talked about his relationship with Bansi Lal,Bhajan Lal and Devi Lal. He narrated an incident “I had gone to attend the marriage of daughter of Bansi Lal with my wife who was not wearing much gold ornaments.

On seeing her without ornaments Madam Bansi Lal said in chaste Haryanvi क्या नंगी बुची आ गई ? ( meaning without ornaments) My wife was astonished but was surprised when Madam Bansi Lal presented her a gold chain which she never demanded back).I had presented him my book on Politics,culture and governance of Haryana titled “Haryana Ke Lalon Ke Sabrange Kisse.”.Varma ji asked me to get it translated into English also.
