Hectic Lobbying for Haryana’s Rajya Sabha Seat: Manohar Lal Pushes for Sanjay Bhatia’s Nomination
Intense lobbying is underway for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat from Haryana, with Union Minister and Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar strongly advocating for his close associate, former Karnal MP Sanjay Bhatia, as the party’s candidate. The seat was vacated following the election of Krishan Lal Panwar as an MLA, and with the current strength of BJP MLAs, the party’s ticket is almost seen as a guarantee for victory.
Several senior BJP leaders, including Party Chief Mohan Badoli, Kuldeep Bishnoi, former ministers OP Dhankad and Abhimanyu, as well as former MP Sunita Duggal, were also in the running for the seat, with some suggesting that their nominations would be advantageous given caste considerations. However, it seems that Manohar Lal is determined to push his preferred candidate, Sanjay Bhatia, despite the potential benefits of other names.
Sources close to the developments suggest that Manohar Lal’s primary goal is to establish his dominance within the party, showcasing that he is not just a decision-maker in the government but also wields significant influence over internal party matters. Critics, however, argue that this move may not necessarily be in the best interest of the party, but it seems the Former Chief Minister is focused on strengthening his grip over BJP’s internal dynamics. The final decision on the candidate remains to be seen.
