Haryana Minister Rao Narbir Singh Claims Cops Are Seeking Postings in Gurugram Police Station

Minister’s Allegations of Police Interference in Posting Decisions
Rao Narbir Singh, Haryana’s Forest and Environment Minister, has claimed that police officials are approaching him for postings at the Sector 29 Police Station in Gurugram. The minister has raised concerns about the motives behind such requests, suggesting that these officers’ interests may not align with public service.

DGP’s Transfer Policy Under Scrutiny
Singh also questioned why police officers are seeking his intervention despite the clear transfer policy formulated by DGP Shatrujit Kapoor. The policy, which is well-known within the police force, outlines the process for postings. Singh expressed doubts over the integrity of those seeking these postings, given the lucrative nature of Gurugram for certain “corrupt” police officers.

Challenges in Registering Complaints in Gurugram Police Stations
The minister further criticized the state of law enforcement in Gurugram, alleging that it is difficult for ordinary citizens to get their complaints registered unless they have political or social clout. He highlighted that in many cases of economic offences and fraud, police only register cases when directed by the courts, raising concerns over the efficiency and accountability of the local police.
