Haryana Tourism Department Leases Prime Tourist Complex ‘Ethnic India’ in Sonipat: Controversy Arises
After Quietly Leasing Prime Six-Acre Land at Golf Course Road, Gurugram, Haryana Tourism Department Now Leases ‘Ethnic India’ Tourist Complex in Sonipat District
Following the discreet leasing of valuable six acres of land at a discounted price on Golf Course Road in Gurugram, the Haryana Tourism Department has now announced the leasing of its prominent tourist complex Ethnic India in Sonipat. The complex is being offered for lease under controversial terms, raising concerns about government management of its tourism assets and the transparency of the leasing process.
In a move that has raised several eyebrows, the Haryana Tourism Department is leasing its prime tourist complex, Ethnic India, located in Sonipat district at a prime location. This follows the recent leasing of a six-acre land on Golf Course Road in Gurugram for 15 years, at a discounted price, which had been quietly handled.
The latest lease deal for Ethnic India has sparked questions about the government’s ability to efficiently manage its tourism assets. The complex is being offered on an 11-year lease, with an option for a further 11-year extension. The lease will be granted on an “as-is-where-is” basis, meaning the new lessee will take over the complex along with its existing assets and inventory.
A significant concern being raised is whether the government is failing to manage and operate its own tourism complexes effectively, prompting these leases to private parties. Additionally, the terms and conditions of the lease advertisement, published in local newspapers, have been criticized for appearing tailored to favor a select few, raising further questions about transparency and fairness in the leasing process.
