A Milestone in the Appointment of the Haryana Human Rights Commission” 

After a year-long delay and ongoing reporting from Gustakhi Maaf Haryana, the Haryana government has finally appointed the new Chairman and members of the Haryana Human Rights Commission.

The appointments were held up for months as numerous claimants lobbied for the prestigious posts.

Today, the government has appointed Lalit Batra, retired Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as Chairman, and Kuldeep Jain, retired District and Sessions Judge, along with Deep Bhatia, Advocate (who is reappointed for a second term), as members.

The delay in the process, while unfortunate, also brought much-needed attention to the workings of the state machinery, and our consistent reporting on this issue has helped ensure that justice prevailed in the end.
